What is a 3D scan?

A 3D scan shows depth as well as height and width.

What is a 4D scan?

A 4D scan is similar to a 3D scan except it shows movement as well.

Do I need an appointment?

It is best to have an appointment but if you need to be seen at short notice please ring and we will do our best to fit you in.

Can a scan harm my baby?

No. Ultrasound has been used for over 30 years and there is no evidence that it can harm your baby in any way.

Can I bring my partner?

Yes.

How long will the scan take?

Depending on the type of procedure, the consultation could take between 20 and 30 minutes.

Can I find out the sex of my baby?

It is often possible to see which sex the feotus is, but not always. If you would like to try and find out the sex, please let us know.

Do I need a referral?

Most women choose to book an appointment directly with us, or they may have been referred by their GP, Obstetrician or Midwife.

Will it hurt?

The ultrasound procedures are completely painless.
